Dakotafest begins Tuesday morning just east of Mitchell and runs through Thursday.

Niki Jones with IDEAg Group, which puts on the event, says there will be new demonstration areas this year.  Butler Machinery is hosting a premium ride and drive event.  The Hustler Equipment demonstrations will happen several times daily.  More than 450 exhibitors will attend this year’s event.

Forums will also be held.  On Tuesday at noon, South Dakota Ag Forward: Top Priorities For State and National Commodities will take place.  South Dakota’s U.S. Congressional delegation will discuss the farm bill at 1 PM.  Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds and Representative Dusty Johnson will be on hand for that forum.

Alcohol sales will be allowed on site for the first time at Dakotafest at the Networking Lounge, which will also feature live music during the afternoon.
