MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Gov. Larry Rhoden announced Tuesday that Watertown’s Calvin Industrial Park will receive a new $500,000 state grant aimed at infrastructure improvements.

Rhoden said the grant will help advance the Calvin Industrial Park project and build on a $500,000 Local Infrastructure Improvement Program grant the Governor’s Office of Economic Development approved earlier this month for the city of Watertown.

State officials said the new $500,000 award will come from South Dakota’s Future Fund. Rhoden made the Watertown announcement at Sentry, which is located in the Calvin Industrial Park.

In the same set of announcements, Rhoden awarded Dakota BioWorx in Brookings a $900,000 Future Fund grant. The governor’s office said the funding will help Dakota BioWorx cash-flow operating costs as it continues to attract more users.

Rhoden made the Brookings announcement at Dakota BioWorx, which the state described as a partnership between South Dakota State University and the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology focused on helping bioprocessing businesses get to work.

The governor’s full release is available through the State of South Dakota news portal.
