Gregory man facing charges in Saturday morning fatal crash in Dallas

DALLAS, S.D. – A Dallas man has been identified as the person who died Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Dallas.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 1996 Jeep Cherokee was southbound on Second Street at around 11:45 AM when it rear-ended a southbound 2013 John Deere Gator UTV.

Samuel Hoffart, the 63-year-old driver of the UTV, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alec Dostal of Gregory, 54, was the driver of the Jeep. He was not injured. Charges including DUI and first-degree manslaughter are pending against him.
