Lake Norden Man Killed in Farming Accident in Hamlin County

MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — A Lake Norden man has died following a farming accident in Hamlin County.

Deputies with the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office were called to a farm located about four miles southwest of Lake Norden just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say deputies arrived to find an adult male who had been pinned by a tractor. Life-saving measures were initiated at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Charles Koistinen, 55.

No additional details about the circumstances of the accident have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
