MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The future of a long-standing learning program at Mitchell Middle School is under review, with school officials set to gather public input during a meeting Wednesday evening.

The district has scheduled the session to discuss the Mass Customized Learning program, which has been in place for more than a decade. Earlier communication to parents indicated the program could be discontinued after the next school year due to declining interest.

However, district officials have since clarified that the program is now considered “in transition,” signaling that its future has not yet been finalized.

Superintendent Joe Childs said additional details about potential changes and next steps will be shared during the meeting.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Middle School library and is open to the public.

School leaders are expected to outline options for the program and gather feedback from families and community members before making a final decision.
