MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell Park and Recreation Board has voted to stop food trucks and mobile vendors from setting up during sporting events at city park facilities, citing limited parking. According to the Mitchell Republic, the board denied a request from a mobile vendor to operate during Dakota Riptide swim meets at the Mitchell Recreation Center. Officials say parking is already full during events, and allowing one vendor could open the door to many more. Under city rules, only the Riptide swim club may operate concessions inside the building during meets. The board says vendors may explore off-site options near the school.
