Mitchell Softball

The Kernel softball team took on the Tea Area Titans last night on the roadIt was a tough outing for Mitchell as they were unable to reel in a run until the final inning. Three different Kernels registered a hit in their 8-1 loss to Tea Area. Mitchell falls to 3-11 overall, and they’ll return to action on Thursday when they face Pierre T.F. Riggs.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel boys tennis team continues play in the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet again today over in Yankton, SD at Yankton high school. It gets started at 8am this morning.

Mitchell Golf

The Kernel girls golf team will return to the course this afternoon. They’ll be over in Yankton at Fox Run Golf Course taking on the Gazelles in the Marchand Cup. Tee time is set for 2pm.

Mitchell Baseball

The Kernel baseball team is postseason bound! The final SDHSBA Class A standings were released yesterday. Mitchell lands at No. 11 and they will face No. 6 Pierre beginning on Friday in a best two out of three where the winner will advance to the State Tournament at Augustana University on May 22-23. The matchup will be played in Pierre at Hyde Stadium. Mitchell swept Pierre in their only regular season meeting when they played a doubleheader at Drake Field.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins return to the field tonight looking to get themselves back above .500 overall. They will face the Miami Marlins at home tonight at 6:40pm on MLBTV.

NBA

The NBA playoffs will have a single game in action tonight. It will be a Western Conference Game 5 matchup between the No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves and the No. 2 seed San Antonio Spurs. The game will be played in San Antonio at Frost Bank Center and can be viewed on NBC/Peacock and tipoff is at 7pm. The series is tied 2-2.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice continues serving jail sentence as team begins voluntary offseason workouts

While most of the Kansas City Chiefs participated in voluntary workouts this week, wide receiver Rashee Rice was back in Texas, serving his 30-day jail sentence after violating the terms of his probation for his role in a car crash that left multiple people injured.
