Mitchell Softball

The Kernel softball team took on Watertown last night on the road. This game featured 20 hits and various lead changes in this tight battle between the Kernels and Arrows. Watertown ended up walking away with an 11-9 victory. Brooklyn Schlimgen, Malia Reitzel and Kinsley Herges all managed a pair of hits in the game. Mitchell will be back in action tonight in Sioux Falls, SD taking on Sioux Falls Jefferson at Cadwell Park. JV will start at 4pm and varsity begins at 5:30pm.

Mitchell Golf

The Kernels girls golf team competed at Willow Run Golf Course yesterday afternoon. Mitchell had another third place finish in the Sioux Falls Invite. They had a pair of athletes in the Top 10 with Anna Eliason in 10th and Maddie Childs finishing eighth. They will compete again today and look to bounce back in their Varsity Quad today at Bakker Crossing Golf Course. Tee Off is set for 9am.

Mitchell Baseball

The Kernel baseball team will return home tonight for a doubleheader. They will host Sioux Falls Roosevelt at Drake Field in Mitchell. The first pitch will be at 5pm.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel boys tennis team ended up splitting their games at home yesterday in Hitchcock Park. They managed a dominant win of 9-0 over Pierre but fell 7-2 to the Bucks. Mitchell is now 10-4 overall. The Kernels will more have more Varisty Triangular action today at Hitchcock Park again and they will begin at 11am today.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins is back on the field tonight. They’ll get started with a new series and aim to get themselves back above .500 overall. Minnesota will travel to Washington to face the Nationals, and the game will begin on Tuesday at 5:45pm on MLBTV.

NBA

The Semifinals are underway as of yesterday, and it was a nice start with a pair of good games. Another pair will be on tap tonight. You’ll have more Game 1’s: 

  • No. 4 seed Cleveland Cavaliers @ No. 1 seed Detroit Pistons at 6pm on CBSSN/Peacock 
  • No. 4 seed Los Angeles Lakers @ No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder at 7:30pm on NBC/Peacock

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice continues serving jail sentence as team begins voluntary offseason workouts

While most of the Kansas City Chiefs participated in voluntary workouts this week, wide receiver Rashee Rice was back in Texas, serving his 30-day jail sentence after violating the terms of his probation for his role in a car crash that left multiple people injured.
