MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) My Place Hotel in Mitchell is asking for help from local residents to support children in foster care. The hotel is collecting new or gently used luggage throughout November to ensure children have something of their own when moving between homes—rather than a plastic bag to hold their belongings. “This effort is close to our hearts,” said Bobbi Anderberg, General Manager of My Place Hotel – Mitchell. “We’re reaching out to our community because we can’t do it alone. Even one donated suitcase, duffle bag, or backpack can make a lasting difference for a child who’s going through so much.” Local residents are encouraged to drop off suitcases, duffle bags, carry-on luggage, or backpacks from November 1–30, 2025, at: My Place Hotel – Mitchell, SD 618 E Spruce Street Mitchell, South Dakota 57301 “With your help, we can give kids in foster care something more than just a way to carry their things—we can give them a little dignity, comfort, and hope,” Anderberg added. “We’re so thankful for the incredible kindness of our Mitchell community.” For more information, please contact the hotel at (605) 597-7757 or email mitchell@myplacehotels.com.
