New Years Holiday Garbage Collection & Christmas Tree Collection

Due to the observance of New Year’s Day on Thursday January 1st, 2026 there will be no garbage collection. Garbage will be collected one day later than normal for end of week. Collection will be Friday January 2nd to Saturday January 3rd, 2026.

The City of Mitchell Regional Landfill will be closed on Thursday January 1st, 2026

The City of Mitchell will have a special collection for Christmas trees during the week of January 5th – 9th, 2026. Place the trees curbside on the same day of your garbage collection. Again, these will be picked up curbside only.

Christmas trees may also be taken to the compost drop-off site located at 1405 West 8th Ave which will be open January 1st – 16th, 2026. You can bring Christmas trees to this location to drop off from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
