MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has announced the launch of Phase 2 of the National Operation Robocall Roundup, a coordinated effort targeting telecom companies that allow illegal robocalls to pass through their networks.

Jackley is part of the 51-member Attorneys General Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force, formed in 2022 to combat illegal call traffic nationwide. The task force issued new warning letters to four major telecom providers — Inteliquent, Bandwidth, Lumen and Peerless — directing them to stop transmitting suspected illegal robocalls.

“These companies know these calls are happening on their networks and they are now being warned to follow the rules,” Jackley said in a statement. “This daily nuisance for consumers stops now.”
The full release is available from the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office: https://atg.sd.gov.

The task force issued similar warnings in August to 37 smaller voice providers. As a result of that earlier action:

13 companies were removed from the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Database, blocking their call traffic nationwide.

19 companies stopped appearing in traceback results, indicating they discontinued routing suspected illegal robocalls.

At least four providers terminated high-risk customer accounts identified as sources of illegal call traffic.

Phase 2 expands this enforcement effort by targeting larger carriers that play a significant role in national call routing.
