MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has been unanimously elected to serve as President-Elect of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), marking the second time he has been chosen for the role. The vote occurred Monday during NAAG’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C., according to an announcement from the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office.

Jackley has served as NAAG Vice President over the past year. He previously became the first South Dakota Attorney General to hold the presidency in 2015.

“I am honored to serve alongside my fellow Attorneys General as we enforce our state laws and promote sound law enforcement policies for our communities,” Jackley said in the announcement. “Serving in this leadership role will strengthen my ability to address issues on a national level that are important to South Dakota.”

NAAG includes representatives from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Current NAAG leadership includes Connecticut Attorney General William Tong as President, District of Columbia Attorney General Brian Schwalb as Vice President, and New Hampshire Attorney General William Formella as Immediate Past President.
