Mitchell Golf

The Kernel boys golf team will get back to action this morning. They will compete in a Varsity Invitational against Parkston. It’ll be here at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell and begin at 10am.

Mitchell Cross Country

The Kernel cross country teams will be in a cross country Varsity Invitational this evening. It will be at 6:30pm at Yankton Trails Park.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel girls tennis team is getting back to the courts tomorrow. They will compete in a Varsity Triangular against a pair of schools in Mitchell at Hitchcock Park. Matches will begin at 10am.

Mitchell Soccer

The Kernel boys and girls soccer teams will be playing tomorrow. Each team will face Huron at Joe Quintal Field. The boys will play first at 11am and the girls will follow and play at 1pm. (Kernel Bowl)

Mitchell Volleyball

The Kernel volleyball team is set to play tomorrow. All teams will be in action tomorrow facing Pierre. Every game besides the 9th grade team will be in the Auxiliary gym. The freshman will be in the main gym at 12:30pm. The JV will play at 12:30pm, sophomores at 1:30pm and the varsity will be at 2:30pm. (Kernel Bowl)

Mitchell Football

The Kernel football team will have week two action tomorrow night. They will have their home opener and host the Brookings Bobcats at Joe Quintal Field. The game will begin at 6pm. (Kernel Bowl)

DWU Golf

The Tiger men’s golf team competed in the Blue River Classic at the Highland Golf Course in Lincoln, NE the past two days. DWU ended up finishing in eighth place as a team and had a couple of guys in the Top 25. Peyton Betcher finished tied for 25th place at eight over par and Connor Calahan finished tied for third at five under par.

DWU Cross Country

The Tiger men’s and women’s cross country teams will each compete tonight in a Twilight Invitational hosted by Augustana. It will be in Sioux Falls at Yankton Trails Park, and the women will begin at 8:30pm and the men start at 9pm.

DWU Volleyball

The (RV) Tiger volleyball team will have their home opener tomorrow afternoon. DWU will host the Waldorf Warriors in the Christen Athletic Center at 3pm.

DWU Soccer

The Tiger soccer teams will both see action tomorrow. Each team will face York (NE) on their home turf in York, NE at York Soccer Complex. The women will play at 2pm and the men will follow and start at 4:30pm.

DWU Football

The Tiger football team will hit the road for the first time this season. They will travel to face the No. 19 Dordt Defenders in Sioux City, Iowa. The game will be played at Open Space Park at 1pm.

SDSU Football

The No. 2 Jackrabbit football team will have their first road game of the season. It’ll be a high-powered matchup against the No. 3 Montana State Bobcats in Bozeman, MT. The game will begin at 6pm MT/7pm CT on ESPN+.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins took on the Chicago White Sox for the final time last night. It’s a sweep for Chicago in this series after an 11-8 win last night over Minnesota. The Twins will start a new series with the Kansas City Royals on the road tonight at 6:40pm.

WNBA

The Minnesota Lynx faced the Las Vegas Aces last night on the road. It was a battle between the Top 2 teams in the league. The Aces came away with a 97-87 win as one of the MVP front runners, Aja Wilson, led all scorers with 31 points and added eight rebounds. Natisha Hiedeman led Minnesota with 22 points off the bench on 8-for-10 shooting from the field.

NFL

The NFL season got rolling last night with a game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a close game throughout and had a rain delay in the midst of the third quarter, but it didn’t stop the defending champions from starting the year off with a win. Philadelphia defeated Dallas, 24-20. The Minnesota Vikings will debut Monday when they travel to face the Chicago Bears at 7:15pm on ABC/ESPN.
