Mitchell Golf

The Kernel boys golf team are competing this morning on the road. They will be in Brookings at the Brookings Golf Club competing in a Varsity Invitational at 10am.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel girls tennis team return to the courts tomorrow. They’ll be hosting a Varsity Triangular here in Mitchell. It will all be held at Hitchcock Park and begin at 11am.

Mitchell Soccer

The Kernel boys soccer team will be in action tomorrow night here in Mitchell. They will host Vermillion at Joe Quintal Field at 6pm with the JV playing first at 4pm.

DWU Soccer

The Tiger women’s soccer team will be playing here in Mitchell tomorrow night. They will be at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex facing the Dakota State Trojans at 6pm.

DWU Golf

The Tiger women’s golf team continue day two of a three-day competition at Willow Creek Golf Club. It is the Northwest Iowa National Invitational Tournament. Start time today is TBD.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins took on the Arizona Diamondbacks again last night and fell short. James McCann homered and drove in four runs and the Diamondbacks beat the Twins 6-4 to remain two games back in the chase for the NL’s third wild-card spot. Minnesota falls to 65-84 overall. Tonight, the Twins host a new series against the New York Yankees, and the game will begin at 6:40pm.

WNBA

The No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx faced the No. 8 seed Golden State Valkyries to begin the playoffs yesterday afternoon. It started as a close game and an early 28-21 lead for Golden State, but the Lynx turned it up a notch the rest of the way. They ended up with a dominant 101-72 win. Napheesa Collier led the way with 20 points and six rebounds. Game two will be on the road Wednesday at 9pm on ESPN.

NFL

The Minnesota Vikings took on the Atlanta Falcons last night. No late comeback this time around for J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings as they slipped up at home to Atlanta and lost, 22-6. Minnesota is now 1-1 overall. Tonight, you’ll have a pair of Monday Night Football games. Beginning with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Houston Texans at 6pm on ABC/ESPN and then the Los Angeles Chargers at the Las Vegas Raiders at 9pm on ESPN.
