Mitchell Basketball

The Kernel basketball teams get back to it with a busy weekend of games. It starts tomorrow with games against the Rapid City Stevens Raiders in the World’s Only Corn Palace. Girls JV and sophomore boys play at 3:30pm, followed by the freshman and JV boys at 4:45pm. Then the varsity begins at 6pm with the (RV) Kernel girls (1-0) facing the (RV) Raider girls (2-1) and then the No. 3 Kernel boys (0-1) will follow against the Raider boys (1-1) and play at 7:30pm.

Mitchell Wrestling

The Kernel wrestling teams are in action at home tonight in Mitchell. They’ll be having a Varsity Dual against the Huron Tigers in the Auxiliary Gym at the Mitchell high school. The competition begins at 6pm for the girls and 7pm for the boys.

Mitchell Hockey

The Marlins girls hockey team (1-5) is competing tomorrow night in Mitchell. They will host Sioux Center at the Mitchell Activities Center in the Toshiba Rink. The puck drops at 6pm.

DWU Basketball

The Tiger men’s basketball team took on the newly ranked No. 17 Northwestern Red Raiders last night in the World’s Only Corn Palace. It was a tough outing for DWU, and they were unable to get past the Red Raiders and lost, 89-71. Randy Rosenquist Jr and Anthony Riggans led the Tigers with 13 points each. The No. 10 women’s basketball team (7-4) are out of state and in Honolulu, HI ready to compete in the Hoops in Hawai’i Classic. They will face (RV) Providence (8-3) at The Shark Tank with tipoff at 3pm CT.

SDSU Basketball

The Jackrabbit basketball teams will both be playing soon. It starts with the (RV) Jackrabbit women’s basketball team (10-2) when they travel to Durham, NC to face (RV) Duke (4-6). The game will tip off at 6pm tonight on the ACC Network. The men’s basketball team (7-6) will be on the road as well. Tomorrow they’ll be in Milwaukee, WI at Fiserv Forum taking on Milwaukee (4-6). Tipoff will be at 4pm and air on pass the ball dot com.

NFL

Tonight is Thursday Night Football as week 16 gets started. It’ll be played at Lumen Field in Seattle, WA as the Seattle Seahawks (11-3) host the Los Angeles Rams (11-3). Kickoff on Prime Video will be at 7:15pm.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Memphis Grizzlies last night. Minnesota ended up being handed their 10th loss of the year after slipping up to the Grizzlies and losing, 116-110. Julius Randle led with 21 points and Rudy Gobert added a 16-point and 16-rebound double-double. The Timberwolves will play again tomorrow night when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
