Mitchell Basketball

The No. 4 Kernel boys played their lone Hoop City Classic games last night in the World’s Only Corn Palace. They took on Jonesboro and had nice flashes, but the strong Georgia team did just enough to get a 60-52 win over Mitchell. The Kernels fall to 2-2 overall. Mitchell’s game originally scheduled to be against Totino Grace this afternoon has been cancelled. However, the (RV) Kernel girls will host Sisseton today at 1:30pm to round out Hoop City Classic action.

Mitchell Wrestling

The Kernel wrestling teams competed against Aberdeen Central in a Varsity Dual in Mitchell yesterday. The Golden Eagles beat the Kernels 56-23 in the boys dual and 57-17 in the girls dual. Winning results for Mitchell include:

DWU Basketball

The No. 10 women’s basketball team took on Northwestern in the Corn Palace last night. DWU led by just eight at the half, 41-33, but came roaring back in the second half. They won the third quarter 29-15 to balloon their lead to 20+ and never looked back. They won the game 90-63. Taliyah Hayes and Emma Yost combined for 44 points in the win over the Red Raiders. DWU is now 10-4 overall and on a four-game winning streak.

SDSU Basketball

The Jackrabbit basketball teams each have action tomorrow to begin the year 2026. The (RV) Jackrabbit women will be at home hosting St. Thomas in First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, SD. Tipoff will be at 2pm. For the men, they will follow the women’s game but face a different opponent. They’ll take on Omaha at 4:15pm. Both games will air on the Summit League Network & Midco Sports.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves will have game action early today for New Year’s Eve. They’ll travel to take on the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA with tipoff set for 2pm on NBA League Pass.
