Sports Roundup: Wednesday 9/17/25

Mitchell Volleyball

The Kernel volleyball team will be in action tomorrow night in Mitchell. All teams will be competing, and the freshman will be in the main gym and start at 4:30pm. The JV will play at 4:30pm, sophomores at 5:30pm and varsity at 7pm all in the Auxiliary Gym.

Mitchell Soccer

The Kernel boys soccer team faced Vermillion last night in Mitchell. They fell to Vermillion, 5-3 and now sit at 2-6-1 overall. Both Kernel soccer teams will be playing tomorrow on the road in Yankton at Yankton Crane Youngworth Field with varsity boys and girls JV playing at 5pm & girls varsity and boys JV playing at 7pm.

DWU Soccer

The Tiger women’s soccer team took on the Dakota State trojans last night in Mitchell. DWU dismantled Dakota State by a score of 5-0. This was the first win of the year for the Tigers. They are now 1-1-3 overall.

DWU Golf

The Tiger women’s golf team completed competition in the Northwest Iowa National Invitational Tournament. Allison Meyerink led the Tigers and finished just three strokes outside of first place and ended tied for second with a total of nine under par and 207 through three days. They finished in seventh as a team.

DWU Volleyball

The (RV) Tiger volleyball team will be hosting a game in town tonight. They will play in the Christen Athletic Center against the Dordt Defenders at 7:30pm.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins took on the New York Yankees again and New York got their revenge. It was a close game in the end, but the Yankees led early with a 10-1 lead through four innings and ended up wining it 10-9. Minnesota couldn’t pull off a comeback. These two teams play again tonight at 6:40pm on Prime Video.

WNBA

The No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx will take on the No. 8 seed Golden State Valkyries in Game 2 tonight. They will be on the road at 9pm on ESPN looking to close out the series.

NFL

Week three will get rolling tomorrow night for some Thursday Night Football. It will be the Miami Dolphins at the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium at 7:15pm on Prime Video.
