FREEMAN, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Turner County Board of Adjustment voted 4–1 this week to impose strict new conditions on Dakota Protein Solutions’ rendering plant near Freeman, following complaints about odors and permit violations. According to the Mitchell Republic, the board set a December 2025 expiration date for the company’s conditional use permit, added random inspections at DPS’s expense, and gave itself power to halt operations if conditions aren’t met. General Manager Brian Donahoe, on the job since October 1st, pledged to fix the problems, saying the company is “taking steps to make things right.” For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
